Dj

Chris Pitchford

About Chris (what he’ll admit to anyway..) Since inheriting his sister’s records when he was knee-high to a grasshopper in the 70’s, Chris knew broadcasting, music and communications was the life for him, and the more buttons, levers, switches, faders and general gadgets involved the better, with his first “DJ kit” being a Bush Cassette Recorder and a Bontempi Organ, for his 4th Birthday. Starting with a modest collection of MFP and K-Tel compilations and a few Beatles 45s mostly more battered than your average cod, he’s never looked back. In the early days it was the joy of spending 85p for this week’s hot single from WH Smith, and still having 15p pocket money left for a small scoop of cola cubes. The 80’s was Chris’s “Golden Age” of music. Chris showcases his perennial penchant for 70’s and 80’s music and it’s modern contemporaries on Solid Gold Sounds, where he is just as happy with forgotten 45’s as their well known air-play and chart counterparts, so expect an eclectic and original mix of both on the programme. The show has regular features and occasional themed specials, so if you love that wonderful era too (even if you weren’t there..) - there’s a warm welcome for all to enjoy the classics and maybe even a few you missed ! (“Relax” T-Shirt, flairs, platform shoes, space hopper, and rubik's cube all entirely optional !) Chris has been a Presenter and Audio Engineer with the East Shropshire Talking Newspaper For The Blind, for the last 32 years, and a radio veteran; having started out with involvement in Community Radio in the 90’s - his last station residency being a very happy 11 month stint at Revenge FM. The show is now available for worldwide syndication. Chris is married to a published author, and when not busy editing her latest novel, he enjoys landscape photography, and can often be found alongside the dustiest box of vinyl in any remaining record shops, hoping to unearth a hidden gem, or failing that, at the nearest purveyors of unhealthy food ! Chris’s Music Trivia First Single : Blondie - Heart of Glass Favourite Single : Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel - Make Me Smile Favourite Album : Genesis - Invisible Touch Favourite 12 Inch : Queen - Breakthru First CD : Madonna - Like A Prayer Favourite Music Video : Adam and The Ants - Prince Charming

Dj

Ori Uplift

Harpaul Alberto Kohli (better known as Ori Uplift) — the owner and CEO of Abora Recordings and host of the weekly Uplifting Only radio podcast on DI.fm, iTunes, & Spotify — was born in Washington, DC, in 1980, to a father from India and a mother from Ecuador. In 2010 he started up a trance project called Trance Tehillim. In part through that he became friends with the then-owner of Abora Recordings, who ended up giving him the entire Abora label in the summer of 2012. Ori took over and became owner and CEO. Upon taking over ownership, Ori’s goal was to grow the orchestral/emotional uplifting genre, create another scene for it outside the club world, and bring it to a large and growing audience across the globe. He focused on recruiting talented staff, finding orchestral uplifting artists with much potential, and to have the staff and 'talent coaches' help develop the artists’ skills so that they could become top producers. Since then, Abora has blossomed into the world's top label for orchestral emotional uplifting trance, and has sprouted successful sublabels in many other trance genres, now totaling 13 labels/sublabels, including Edge EDM, Driftmoon Audio, Silent Shore Records, Levitated Music, and more. It was rated the world’s #8 trance label in the Trance Podium 2014 Awards and was listed as one of the 6 best trance labels by Trance for Infinity. Abora has enjoyed success in the broader EDM music world too: Since 2012, Abora has won the Future Favorite on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 13 times, more than any label except Armin's Armada itself. Meanwhile, Ori’s weekly Uplifting Only radio podcast, which aims to be the definitive and leading show for the orchestral uplifting genre, has developed a devoted and passionate fan base. Further, Uplifting Only was rated the #8 "Best Radioshow/Podcast/Cloudcast" in the Trance Podium 2014 Awards, and was ranked one of the top five trance podcasts for working out by Trance Hub (ranking first for yoga and pilates). Ori’s success has now started extending to live gigs: He has closed for Aly & Fila, has performed with vocalists Caro Sosa and Erika Faries, and was the “Main Headliner” at the 2015 Trancervatory festival in Ecuador.

Dj

Gary Moore

Lovin’ the music & wanting to keep it alive is an understatement for Gary. He’s still at it today. He first noticed ‘the sound’ at the early age of 8 in 1967 & eventually was brought up on The Jackson 5 from the very early 70’s. He was presented with his very first record player, a ‘Discatron’ front loading 7” slot player in silver with two massive buttons! Eject & Play…at that age & he thought, ‘waaaw, this is it!’ Although he had ‘the sound’ all around him from the age of 7, he confesses he didn’t actually get to choose & buy! his first 7” single until around Christmas 1973, when on a holiday break to family & armed with enough pocket money, he raced to a branch of ‘Woolworths’ in Pembroke Dock South Wales UK, then, over to the ‘record bar’ & bought a copy of The Staple Singers – ‘If you’re ready come go with me’ needless to say it got played to death & everybody ended up knowing all the words &! Gary’s favourite part of the song which was the ‘dubbl drum riff’ near the end. He considers himself very fortunate to have been born just in time to fully appreciate what he calls ‘theee decade of the very best music’ which he says can still be heard influencing so many tracks from the 2000’s. Its been such an honour to him to have ‘lived the time frame’ of Soul & Disco Funk music from its beginning. His biggest kick is when he finds out that someone has ‘discovered all this great music’ & immediately loves it. That makes it all worth the effort. He very much looks forward to having you around during the show.

Dj

J.B

JB In The Morning “Playing Everything From Aerosmith to ZZ Top and Keeping the Classic’s Classic.” That’s how JB starts most of his shows. His humor with those occasional “rental lips” days and his insatiable desire to learn and share the music, the bands, their facts and stories makes for an upbeat, fun and informative “JB In The Morning” show. When he isn’t participating in his favorite pastimes (golf, traveling and video games) he is spending a tremendous amount of time researching, developing and airing his shows. JB’s interest in music began as a kid with playing brass instruments and several other instruments and that developed into being in several different bands throughout the years. After retiring from the construction industry and several other businesses’, he started doing voiceovers. It just so happened an owner of a radio station heard him and strongly suggested he start his own show and that is how “JB In The Morning” was born. For JB it’s all about Classic Rock that, without realizing it, you are rockin’ out right along with him. Other music (other than country) is great too but Classic Rock is his passion. “More Rock – Less Talk

Dj

Andy Spencer

“Music was my first love, and it will be my last. Music of the future, and music of the past.” Being the youngest of four siblings, my musical tastes have been influenced by a slightly older generation. However, back in the mid 80’s I had fallen in love with electronic music. Then in 1988, I began my career & journey as a DJ. Initially playing at private parties, then slowly growing in confidence & experience until breaking into the bar & club world. House & Dance music have always been close to my heart & have heavily influenced my music collection & DJ sets. But with age, comes wisdom, and now my musical repertoire features Disco & Soul. Confidence using a microphone has further enabled me to expand into presenting, with several radio shows & performances under my belt. In 2023 I celebrated 35 years of being a DJ. And now in 2024, I am proud & thankful to have many fans & followers across my various social platforms & music streaming services. I currently produce & present a weekly podcast mix show called ‘Something For The Weekend’, plus a weekly live radio show for Back2House Radio – both featuring uplifting, vocal, chunky, funky & piano driven House music. In addition, I also deliver frequent live streams featuring Classic Soul, Northern Soul, Motown & Disco.

Gordon Cooper

I bought my first single in 1969....."Sugar Sugar" by The Archies!!! I continued collecting rather a cross section of music until my best friend bought me "Burn" by Deep Purple for my eighteen birthday!! That was it....I became a life long "rocker" from then on!! So my first love is ROCK, as is my second & third love.....although The Carpenters are my guilty pleasure!! Aside from Rock, I also love Sixties & Seventies music.....probably because I lived through them!!! lol My love of Radio has been going for more years than I care to remember.....25+ years with Sunshine Radio on the Isle of Wight & a stint on internet radio with Vectis Radio for eight years, then I seemed to get offers to broadcast my shows all over the place! A final thought....If someone had told me in 1969 not to collect the 6000 plus albums I collected over the decades because you'd be able to access them & more on a mobile phone that fits in the palm of your hand I'd have never have believed it!!! Mind, I did enjoy collecting them!!! Contact email : rockmeister666@hotmail.com
